OVERVIEW

The 20th International Symposium on Geo-disaster Reduction (20th ISGdR) provides an international platform for academics, researchers and practitioners to discuss interdisciplinary research and practices in the fields of the reduction of the disasters triggered by geological and geophysical factors on the earth and beyond. The 20th ISGdR marks the 20th Anniversary of the event and will take place on August 16-19, 2022 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Prospective authors are invited to submit their original research abstracts or full papers.

SUBMISSION

General Instructions

  • Abstracts and full papers must be written in English.
  • Submitted abstracts and full papers must be original.
  • Author’s name and e-mail address must be supplied properly - these contact details will serve for further correspondence with the author(s).
  • Regarding the full paper, it’s not mandatory to submit it.
  • Submit abstracts and full papers to: isgdr2022@se.kanazawa-u.ac.jp / Assistant Professor Xi XIONG, Kanazawa University.

 

Submission Format

The abstract should be a summary of your presentation. Please avoid scientific or engineering symbols, acronyms and bullets. The submission should be typed single-spaced in 12-point type Times New Roman in Microsoft Word file (*.doc/*docx). The length should be no more than 1 page.

We only accept full papers from ICGdR members and each member can only submit one full paper. The paper should be prepared using the template as provided. The length should be no more than 6 pages. Non-members willing to submit a full paper should apply for an ICGdR Individual Membership at least for 2022 by following the membership application procedure on the ICGdR website, i.e., submit an Individual membership application form and pay 100 Euro to ICGdR. All of the submitted full papers will be peer-reviewed.

All submission will be confirmed by e-mails. Author does not receive a confirmation email should check the spam folder. In case a confirmation e-mail is not received within 48 hours, please contact: isgdr2022@se.kanazawa-u.ac.jp.

 

How to Submit Your Presentation at the Symposium:

For on-site participants, your presentation must be uploaded into the PC/Mac in your lecture room before the start of the session. During your lecture you will be using a Remote Controller for controlling your presentation. Please note that we cannot guarantee the quality of Mac-based presentations. Please check in advance (2 hours before your session starts) to ensure Windows compatibility. All presentations will be deleted after the symposium.

For on-line participants, the Guideline for Participants will be sent via e-mail after you register.

Each presentation will be 15 minutes, followed by 5-minute discussion.

 

ATTENTION

  1. Authors are required to certify that their abstracts or full papers are original and have not been previously published elsewhere. Simultaneous submission to any other conference, workshop or journal is strictly prohibited.
  2. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are strictly prohibited to protect intellectual property rights of others and the authors' own academic reputation.
  3. Authors should take responsibilities for their submissions and must not violate the above regulations.
  4. Submissions that do not meet/follow the conference submission rules and format will be returned for modification.
  5. High-quality papers will be recommended for publication in the ICGdR official journal: Geoenvironmental Disasters.
  6. A small number of outstanding presentations will be selected for conference awards.

*Full-time student will be required to present a student ID (or another proof of full-time study) at check-in. Registration fee will be waived for invited speakers.

** Non-Member cannot submit full paper for peer-review.

*** Student and accompany person who want to participate in the technical tour need to pay 3,000 JPY for entrance fee of facilities and lunch.

The Symposium Secretariat must be notified by e-mail (isgdr2022@se.kanazawa-u.ac.jp) about the cancellation of the registration. Telephone cancellation will not be accepted. The appropriate refunds will be made after the Symposium.
